Legoland California is a theme park, miniature park, and aquarium located in Carlsbad, California, based on the Lego toy brand. Opening on March 20, 1999, it was the third Legoland park to open, and the first outside of Europe. The park is currently owned by Merlin Entertainments, which took a controlling interest in 2005. A second park in the United States, Legolad Florida, opened in 2011.

The Legoland California Resort currently encompasses the original park, a Lego-themed Sea Life Aquarium (opened in 2008), a Chima-themed water park (opened in 2010, with Chima expansion in 2014) and a hotel (opened in 2013).

LEGOLAND® California Resort includes LEGOLAND California, SEA LIFE® Aquarium, LEGOLAND Water Park and LEGOLAND Hotel. All are geared for families with children between the ages of 2 and 12.

At LEGOLAND California, you'll find more than 60 rides, shows and attractions including LEGO® Star Wars™ Miniland Model Display, Pirate Reef and LEGO Legends of Chima Water Park presented by Cartoon Network. New this year is the LEGO Star Wars™ Miniland Death Star Model Display and LEGO Heartlake City where guests can meet the five LEGO Friends in person, build a LEGO horse or ride Mia's Carousel.

SEA LIFE Aquarium is home to more than 5,000 living creatures and incorporates LEGO models into a child's voyage to the depths of the ocean featuring play zones, fun facts and quiz trails.

The LEGOLAND Hotel is one of the top travelers’ choice as a hotel for families in the United States. The LEGOLAND Hotel now offers guests five room options when booking their stay. Guests can choose from a Pirate, Adventure, Kingdom, LEGO® Friends or LEGO NINJAGO theme. In 2016, LEGOLAND California opened a new land, LEGO NINJAGO World, featuring five attractions all designed to test guests balance, agility, speed and creativity all before they experience NINJAGO The Ride, a first ride of its kind in North America that enables guests to demonstrate ninja skills by simply using their hands instead of a hand-held device .

in the LEGO NINJAGO World Guests can choose from 18 rooms and two suites to spend a night with Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane, Lloyd, Nya and Master Wu. Each room is filled with 11 LEGO® NINJAGO inspired models. Kids will recognize Zane’s titanium falcon, Nya’s helmet, ninja throwing stars and a massive dragon egg all made out of LEGO bricks. Every children’s sleeping area is themed as a dragon’s cave where ninja dragons are waiting for battle and includes bunk and trundle beds. Plus, kids have their own TV, games, LEGO bricks and a treasure chest hidden in what’s designed to be a bamboo passageway to the mountain temple! Parents will also sleep in ninja style as the king-size bed’s headrest includes a shrine that holds all four elemental weapons.

The LEGO Friends, which focuses on the adventures and lives of five girls: Andrea, Emma, Mia, Olivia and Stephanie.

Using more than 100,000 LEGO elements, the five girls have each been recreated out of LEGO bricks for guests to enjoy. Master Model Builders carefully unwrapped them to join the more than 50 other LEGO models built for Heartlake City including bows, microphones, first place ribbons, ladybugs and carrots. Guests can create their own LEGO models at a building "trough" inside the Heartlake Stables.
LEGO Friends Heartlake City invites kids and families to dance and sing along at Friends Forever Stage, build inside Heartlake Stables and go for a horseback ride on the carousel at Mia's Riding Camp. Guests can also satisfy their sweet tooth at City Park Crêperie with freshly made crêpes before splashing about in the Heartlake Fountain!

The LEGO® Star Wars™: The Force Awakens Miniland Model Display.

“Right now, at our secret Model Shop in Carlsbad, Master Model Designer Nik Ehm of our Merlin’s Magic Making team is working on creating six scenes that represent the first 30 minutes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” said Ronchetti. “There are two primary focal points – the more traditional character-driven scenes on the planet of Jakku, and an enormous LEGO® model of the Star Destroyer Finalizer. At 16-feet long, it will be the longest LEGO Star Wars Miniland model ever created!”
